Wild & Wrong

Twenty-five paintings. Twenty-five impossible situations.

Bold, expressive, richly coloured artwork that burns off the page. And texts that begin as comedy and land, every time, somewhere true.

Wild & Wrong is a book about animals that is not about animals at all. You will know exactly who it is about by the second page.

There is a particular kind of confidence that exists beyond reason. Beyond evidence. Beyond the advice of anyone watching from the outside. Wild & Wrong is a portrait of that confidence — painted twenty-five times, in twenty-five different forms, with bold expressive brushstrokes and saturated jewel-toned colour that make every image feel urgent, alive, and impossible to look away from.

Each painting shows a creature in a situation it has no business being in. Each text asks, quietly, why we recognise it so immediately.

This is a funny book. It is also something else — a record of the gap between what we believe about ourselves and what the world can actually see, between the plan and the reality, between the spotlight and the stage.

The animals are doing their best. So are we. That turns out to be the same story.
